This is a little page to tell you what a familar is (in my opinion), how she obtained me, how I feel connected to her, and how to find yours, if you haven't already.

To me a familar is an animal spirit that is kindred with yours. They help guide you, teach you and are they for you when you need them. They are in every instinct we have. And they animal that choose you can tell you alot about the way you are. For instance, mine is the brown bear. I have quite a few traits the bear has. I am a homebody in the winter, I am careful about strangers in my space, and I will strike out if i feel threaten (think being a Scropio might have something to do with that too :D )

Well,it's strange because I have always taken a major liking to ravens and horses. Those are animals that I always called on when I needed animal magick, I researched both and worked with horses quite a bit to get a feel with (besides the fact that I like to ride and always have). When the bear choose me I was quite surprised, to say the least. I had always liked bears (my grandma raised me with a strong respect for bears. She grew-up in Montana and when my granfather and she lived in Yellowstone there was a bear that was very people friendly, really touched my grandma's heart) but I never had the same love for them as I did for ravens and horses. After she choose me and I began studing the bear I was surprised and excitied to find how many traits I had that matched the bear.

I feel connected to her always. I know that might not make sense but it's kind of hard to explain. Allow me to try. I always feel she is with me. I need her and I close my eyes and she is there. When I need physical strength I call on her to lend it to me and she has yet to not. When I get angry I feel her rear up in me (which makes keeping my temper a challenge, let me tell you!) But when I am happy she want's to play like a little cub.

Well, this is what worked for me and it may for you too. Give it a shot. What you do is go into a meditation, find yourself at the enterance of a cave. Take in as many details as you can about it. Walk in and walk to the back of the cave. At the back of the cave you will see a crystal spiral staircase that goes down, follow it down. Once you get down you will see some type of nature seen and your familar will meet you at the foot of the stairs. Speak with it, ask it it's name and to tell you a bit about it. Once you have made a good conection with it and when you and your familar feel ready it will be time for you to go. Follow to staircase back up, thru the cave and back to the enterance. Once there allow yourself to come out of the meditation. Record you travels in a book. Anyhoo, this is how I did it. Good luck and have fun!
